Metallurgical Fire I missed my Avantgarde subscription, and had to re-up when I saw so many quality recent albums on the label. Argenthorns was one of my favorite discoveries last year. I expected them to find a wider audience, and I encourage you to give this album a listen. Symphonic but also fierce and aggressive, The Ravening does everything right for its genre. One of the best album covers ever as well. Favorite track: Wings of Psychomachia.

x0riente Being all over the place and sometimes bordering on chaotic, "The Ravening" required a few spins to finally open up - and even now I can't really tell what kind of beast it is. In its brightest moments, it reminds me of a blackened version of early Symphony X, with lots of changing themes, unexpected turns and a certain affection for musical drama. So if you're into over-the-top and theatrical ABM, Argenthorns definitely deserves your attention.

bmurator Finnish Symphonic Black Metal. This is a debut ful length from two highly experienced guys but, still a debut! Love the compositions & love the music - hope there will be more soon & highly recommend it! Favorite track: Wings of Psychomachia.

americaneurosbmlover66613 A magnificent, dark love letter to symphonic black metal and dark fantasy, Argenthorns has crafted an utter masterpiece of a record. A dynamic, chilly atmosphere, with powerful narrative vocals, but unafraid to embrace some of the cheesy fantasy that it borrows from Bal'Sagoth. Quite a ride from start to finish. Favorite track: The Manor of the Demon Duke.

H.L. "The Ravening" is full of 90s spirit, especially the mysterious symphonic sounds, which remind me at Tartaros ("The Grand Psychotic Castle") and the dark spoken words, which remind me at Bal-Sagoth. But even though this is old-school melodic black metal, the album sounds fresh and lively. Check "Wings of Psychomachia" or "The Great Hallowing of the Tyrant". Favorite track: Wings of Psychomachia.

about

Gone are the days of high adventure, but there are portals and webways that cross paths with our mundane lives. Prepare your journey to the war-torn, magical and baroque world of Argenthorns!

A new, mysterious, symphonic black metal project from the land of the thousand lakes will take you on an epic cloak and dagger adventure. Argenthorns is the solo endeavor of Mason Rofocale, multi-instrumentalist and narrator of our tale, who will recount unspeakable perils and obscure enemies. A quest was laid, and The Ravening marks the first chapter of Mason Rofocale’s occult chronicle through lands unknown!

A black metal tale told the way it used in the ‘90s, with piercing screams, fascinating keyboards and icy cold riffs, for fans of (early) Dimmu Borgir, Bal-Sagoth, Odium and Limbonic Art.
