rvss.eel Melodic black metal with a classic melodic death metal bent. There's a kind of familiarity here that puts me in a comfortable place. Righteous riffs, subtle atmospheric synths, reverbing toms... Inherits The Void has looked into the unknown cosmos, learned from observation, and now presents us with this. The Impending Fall of the Stars will be violent, but for any cosmic observer, possible or not, there will also be whorling waves of beauty to behold. Favorite track: Endless Nocturnal Mask.

Frosty Bear Melodic is my favorite flavor of black metal. I appreciate other influences, and styles (mixed in or alone), but I want melody and majesty. This is the perfect execution of ‘90s melodic black metal with modern sensibilities.

Passionate, razor-sharp riffing, often majestic, perfect production, and doesn’t meander in a cheap attempt to create “atmosphere.” Favorite track: While The Night Seizes Of The Burning Sun.

H.L. "The Impending Fall of the Stars" combines melodic black metal and classic melodic death metal in a very dynamic way. Harsh singing, sharp guitars, fast forward. That results in a thrilling mixture with no time to take a breath. A wild and good album but not a great one due to a lack of catchiness. Favorite track: Where The Oceans Lost Their Light.

The Impending Fall Of The Stars is intended to be the evolutionary continuity of Monolith Of Light, Inherits The Void’s debut album released in 2021.

Despite this continuity, however, the album tends to be more melodic, leaning towards the black metal scene of the ‘90s, particularly the Swedish one (Sacramentum, Dawn, Vinterland) while still infusing modern influences from bands such as Regarde Les Hommes Tomber and even elements taken from the first wave of melodic death metal (early Ablaze My Sorrows, Eucharist, Gates Of Ishtar and the likes).

“The Impending Fall Of The Stars was composed as a faithful mirror of my initial and all-time musical tastes and influences. The involvement of session members - with their own feelings and sensibilities - proved rewarding and made it possible to reach the final rendering as it is proposed”, said Inherits The Void composer and mastermind Antoine Scholtès.

“The nine songs revolve around people migrations from very ancient ages to current times, considering the hopes, the dangers, and the loneliness from all of them during their wandering. All these emotions have permeated the composition of the songs in order to obtain music in which rage, chaos, melancholy, sadness and hopes are mixed together”.
