This is black metal at its bone and core that at some moment starts doing weird things without stopping to be unweakened and unwatered, and it's uncanny. Godspeak Halilu Lija is out of this world. You don't perceive it with your ears, you perceive it with your inner ear. If you know what I mean. Favorite track: Godspeak Halilu Lija.

Metallurgical Fire Fantastic band. Next level black metal. Hopefully they’ll give us more.

Growin Bejenkins Tanner Recitations reminds me why I first started listening to Black Metal 20 yours ago. Unique and utterly terrifying. Mesmerising from beginning to end.

Obstacle of Affliction Unworldly chants flow alongside furious shrieks which are then accompanied by stunning straightforward and experimental black metal. Favorite track: Tongueskull Sacrament.

Tolujin Missed out on this when it was first released in 2016 but it's instantly become one of my favourite black metal albums of the last few years. It starts out straight and brutal but gets more and more experimental as it goes on. No idea who the personnel are but they're clearly experienced musicians from other projects working incognito. Really great stuff. Favorite track: Tongueskull Sacrament.

Recitations started work on what would become "the First of the Listeners" in late 2015, after ideas and thoughts had built up and been discussed between the members for quite some time.
The aim was to create unpretentious dark music in an experimental exploration of both unusual harmonies and patterns, as well as lyrical content, and this is what can be heard in its initial steps on this recording.
The band consists of members from more or less known bands to the underground of Black and Death Metal, but wants to keep focus on the musical and ideological aspects instead of participating in the cult of persona, though without any pompous focus on anonimity for the sake of it.

PSA: if there was an album you heard a couple years ago and thought it was ok, listen to it again and you might love it. That's what happened to me with this album. I cannot fathom why it didn't stick with me back then. Same thing happened with Decoherence's Unitarity for that matter. Matten

On ne frappe pas un homme à terre : c'est ce que dit la règle mais NONE a déjà prouvé qu'il ne les suivait pas et si son album éponyme retirait toute perspective de béatitude spirituelle, Life has gone on long enough, son deuxième opus, nous interdit l'accès au bonheur terrestre. La vie n'a aucune substance et la production plus distante le confirme. Le DSBM s'empare de textures sonores blues, mettant en relief une dépression urbaine.
